The Survey Pit represents a multi-period underwater site with wooden vessel remains, cermaics, wrought iron cannon balls, ballast stones and a variety of 'sea bed' types. It has been designed as a teaching aid for 2 and 3 dimensional survey techniques, planning, sketching, photomosaics and video recording.

The Survey Pit provides an ideal resource for dry practicals on NAS Training courses for non-divers or as a precursor to underwater practicals. It has already been used on NAS Part III 3D Survey courses and is available for use by specialist groups including schools, colleges and Universities.
